Default AMP help

Ok so I need some help. My amp isn't turining on anymore. I have a good ground, good power, and good accessory. When i put the accessory wire into the amp it lights up for a second then stops. When i put a volt meter to the power and the ground the voltage drops from like 12 to 3.4 when i put the accessory in. When I take that wire out the voltage slowly goes back up as if it were recharging. Does anyone know what this means??

When you say good power and ground do you mean you examined the wire decent from the battery all the way back?

If it drops in voltage when it kicks on, could be that your amps blown or that your remote wire is pinched or something somewhere.

Run a jumper from your power to the remote input and see if you have the same result, if you do then, you may have a bad amp.

It sounds like a remote wire, but depending on how the amp is wired internally, I would also check the resistance of the speakers you are running off of it. You could have a short and it is immediately going into protect mode.

The fuses are fine. I haven't been able to examine the wires but i am assuming they are fine if the fuse isn't blown on the battery wire and its giving me the correct voltage before the remote wire is in.

Check the wires going to the speakers.

They were not in the amp when I was testing it so it can't be that.

what speakers are hooked up? Disconnect all the speakers and then try again. I bet you have it over loaded or there is a short in the speaker wires for the voltage to drop like that.

Sounds like you have wiring problems, or a bad amp.

Good advice right there.
