To be honest, 900 watts RMS isn't so great when it sounds like ***. Just a thought. Also consider that 10's won't get you far in the low frequencies.
ED products generally dont sound like "***".
educate yourself.
You might want to educate yourself as well....

yeah, im only the lead installer at an audio store. if you look at the fine print, alot of the companies ratings you can see Xrms@17.7V

You're the lead installer and you bought a kenwood deck?

It came with the car. I have no need to put a system in my car.

So I will just ask you....

Xrms is simply the rms power rating of the woofer (if my knowledge serves me correct) It could also be the peak power at the suspension limited Xmax (I guess thats where you could have pulled the X from)

Tell me what infomation rating a speaker at 17.7 V DC does for a device that transforms AC voltage, into a magnetic reaction. A 17.7 V DC signal to a speaker would simply make the cone move out to acertian direction and consume a small amount ofcurrent depending on VC resistance.

Nice subs don't make a stock mustang sound much better. My 04 GT had a pair of 12" Alpine type-R's with an Alpine head unit and a rockford fosgate t10001 in it.
Neither does junk equipment

ED products generally dont sound like "***".
There is no generally, eD products sound great, unless you are comparing them to products far superior and 3x the price.

If you can afford the amp to power them, two mtx 9510's will probably put out more bass than you can stand, and the lows will blow away most 12's of the same specs.
Ha! I had a 9510, I am one of the few people to pay for what it's worth, $75. I sold it to myself the day I quit an audio shop I was working at, used it for a month or two relized that it was quite the POS and needed an assload of power, along with a decent sized box even though they say a 1.25 is plenty big, it's not at all. I sold it to my roommate for $325 and then he went out and bought a 7801 amp to power it. Our other friend has the 7801 in his STS and was using the 9500 in their fopr a while and I took my Tempest out of my Escort and he wanted to throw it in there just to see what it sounded like, it's by far louder, and sounds better too, not bad for a $125 "ugly, plain" woofer... Thing plays loud as hell until his CD player skips, never have seen the thing playto its nearlimits [:@]with 700ish watts compared to the 200 I was sending it with my Total amp.

Highest I have seen something rated is in the high 15's I think... I have never seen a 17v rating ever.

It sound like you want some total poundage.

Whats your budget? and go with a a single 15", you want cheap pick up one of those Tempests. Build a big box and that thing will do more than you need it to.

Again what is your woofer and amp budget? Do you already have an amp?

I'm gonna have to disagree. The 9500's move twice as much air as kickerL7's, and nearly the same amount of air as JL W7's (would you put a W7 in a 1.25 cft enclosure?). I had my 9510's in2.25 per sub sealedenclosurerunning 1800rms through them and they were pretty ridiculous. Too small of an enclosure AND underpowering will make any comp subwoofer sound like crap.

And I don't know about you, but the only way i get close to fitting a 15 in my stang is by assembling the box in the trunk...

In order to substatiate this statement I will need to see db results from an all things equal test. Same amps, boxes dimensions, mic placement, and music.

The budget, trunk space limitations, and existing equipment will decide what will be a great loud setup for this guy.

1800rms
No you weren't.

No they don't.

I had my 9510's in2.25 per sub sealedenclosure
Thats far too big, if thats really what you needed to have them operate properly then they aren't such a great woofer afterall.

Too small of an enclosure AND underpowering will make any comp subwoofer sound like crap.
MTX 9500 is far from a comp woofer, and any woofer will sound bad with the wrong enclosure and incorrect amount of power, or abuse of the amount of power whether you are under or overdriving, you can responsibly run 1000 watts to a 500 watt RMS woofer if you are responsible.

but the only way i get close to fitting a 15 in my stang is by assembling the box in the trunk...
You can put a 15" in a box as small as 1.75 (of course depending on the driver but alot of them you can), my Tempest was in a 4 cu. and I fit it in my stang... And I definatly built it outside of the car.

I would like to know how you fit 2-2.25 cu ft box in your car and still had room for any amp or room to work or move anything whatsoever, my 4 cube barely fit.

See : http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb3/sh...d.php?t=244954(that is all sealed subwoofer air displacement btw, I never said anything about DB ratings or spl/sq at all)

Its cool, I don't even use the 9510's anymore, I just personally think for the money (can be had on ebay for 240ish) they are a very good subwoofer for what he was looking for (sql I presume, since he specifically noted rap). I own comp subwoofers, and I didn't mean to imply nor do I in any way think the 9510's are considered "comp", just saying underpowering and mismatching boxes could just aseasily ruin a $1000 sub as it can a $200 one...

mtx's were in a tahoe, I would say my enclosure is "15" sized, and it wouldn't fit in my stang (which has no beat) so I'm assuming a 15 box would definately be a tight fit...

I've never gotten my amp measured, but geez... saying I'm absolutely not running 1800 watts is pretty bold.
