Default Problem installing JVC deck in 85 Mustang

Hi guys,

Need a hand with an issue I'm having on this install.

I am trying to install a JVC KD-PDR30 and I got everything hooked up, and when I turn the ignition the unit comes on, whirrs for a few seconds, then turns right off.

It will only respond to the display button, only to turn off a few seconds later, and the eject button, with the same response.

I have the lead connected to a yellow lead from the car, but I don't have the red accessory wire from the deck hooked up to anything in the car (and can't find any wire in the car too hook it to, no red ones)

Any help? Thanks in advance.

you need to connect the yellow wire to the red wire that are on the deck together. next connect the yellowand red from the deck to the red coming from the car. youre all good!

Thanks for the quick response!

And see that's the thing. I can't find any red wires in the area. I see a group of like four of them harnessed and running to various areas a little further back, but I am not sure if I am supposed to muck with those or not. I'm a novice at car electrical.

Well since I haven't installed one I would gather no, though I did buy some, not sure if they include anything but speakers however.

the harness is a gray plastic fitting that goes into your factory harness(black) the wires from the aftermakret harness goes to your cd deck wires. im assuming you dont have one, and your local BestBuy,Circuit City and Walmart will have one. they are $8-20

I already bought one, just can't seem to fine the red wires necessary to complete all of this. I will dig around some more and see where I can get, and update tomorrow.

Thanks a ton for your help.

I mean the wires that are coming out of the vehicle. I know exactly where the wires go on the aftermarket harness, I just can't find the appropriate red coming from the car. I will take a pic when it's daylight - my view of the wirey mess.

you dont need to get the power from the car
you plug your harness into the black connector
and put the wire from your deck to the harness along with the yellow
