Default Avic-D3/Shaker 500 Problems

Sorry to be brief but im actually at circuit city. I never had popping problems or anything like that, so I'm assuming my stock amp was never hooked up? It always sounded a lot like *** and everyone told me I must not have the stock amp running. Was the "turn on" never wired properly? the woofers arent working *at all*. Please help!

if the amp isnt getting turned on you wont have sound, only way you would have sound w/o amp is if someone ran new wires to just run the speakers off the head unit. so your amps have to be on. stock systems may be amped, but they dont necessarily sound that great, too many factors are involved. the amp only amplifies the signal coming from the deck, so if the deck sucks...sound quality will too. amps themselves have their part in sound quality also, and the stock amps are not gonna be top of the line, and the speakers.the machs (guessing shaker = the mach system for the 05+ mustangs?) and shaker are ok for stock systems, but they are far from quality sound (atleast in my opinion).
