Head unit IN. Now need Speaker HELP.
put in an alpine CDA 9853 with the glidetouch thing and love it. I also bought the components for my front and am going to buy the rear speakers really soon. I want to do type R all of the way around. The Front speaker is supposted to be a 5x7, or 6x8. I got the 6.5 component set...? what brackets do i need to make them fit? I know that they are made just don't know wherer to find them. and what speakers would be best for the back...? oh and BTW i'm powering the entire setup with a poweracoustic 4 ch. that delivers 90 X 4 (rms)...thanks.
I have always made my own, I would not know where to send you. I recently dymatted my doors inside and out and installed a 6.5" baffle(like you need) with an enclosure to help the bass. I am going to post pics shortly if you want to do it yourself and have access to a jig saw or router.
HIGH density fiber board, I use Meduim density myself........ its available at any home depot type of store.....
As I said hopefully tonight or tomorrow I can get those pics up, the enclosures came out nice and solid after I dynamatted them and painted them.

looks great and sounds like the way to go.
Problem is...i'm a full time college student at Georgia Southern University...and don't have alot of time to experiment with it, take the panels off and attempt to make them and them not fit or anything.
how much time would it take to build the baffles
and could you send me the demensions of the enclosure behind them?
Um what size speakers would be best for the rear? I have heard that it will fit anything from 5.25 to 6.5 and 5x7's ( have a convertible)...what's going to be the best option for type r's

College student, Ok I gotcha.. I was one once, a few times actually, well ok it was 6 yrs and 4 schools but I got my associates degree in electronics anywho baffles are not hard to make, you basically trace the shape of the factory 5 x 7, and then take the grill from the 6.5 you are going to use and then trace the shape of the 6.5 gill on top of it. You can cut it out with a jig saw or use a router if you want something more exact and have access. the enclosure was about a quart size enclosure that I used a staple gun to staple the enclosure. you do not need to go that far by any means. it would take me 10-15 mins to trace and cut with a jigsaw if all the parts were there(both speakers and grill, a pencil anda jigsaw(which also means my neighbor is standing by already dialed 9-1)) and everything was ready to go. When I was in college that would have probably take me closer to 3 hrs, including beer breaks, not including ER visit. You might be able to sweet talk a local shop into making them for you for a descent price that would be worth your time.........
