Default RE: no sound?

and o yea....when i tried to hook up my brand new amp yesterday I got no power. So that would have to do with the head unit, wouldnt it? Because the power should come on anyway if only the power and ground is hooked up right? Or does it need the remote wire to turn on? Because one time I hooked up my cd player and no sound came out of the speakers because I forgot to connect my remote wire from the cd player. But I checked to see if it came apart and it didn't. So do you think that the remote wire from the cd player is bad if that can be possible?

same thing happened to me. the head unit stopped sending power to the remote turn on...my amps werent getting power. it happened right when i bridged a cap (connector slipped and my cap got bridged and started showering sparks right infront of my face...was pretty interesting).

took me a while to figure that out too. i tried every fuse i could find, i tried my buddies amp, tried everything. finally i just stuck a piece of wire in the remote turn on and the 12v power l ine for the amp and connected em...amp turned on so i ran a switch to the front of the car and just turned the amp on/off manually. you could find a 12v line that only comes on with the car on also.

just connect the remote turn on to the +12 volt switched wire(red) behind the dash and it will turn on and off with the key.

Good question, after doing this as long as I have I forget that the simple stuff is often then most difficult. A good connection is one that will allow the signal to pass, while being insulated to ensure that it is not going to ground out or short out. There should be NO wire showing. I don't mean that there can be a little bit, I mean NONE! Even the smallest gaps left between insulation will cause problems. A good connection is a crimp connector that is properly applied, or a soldered and taped/shrinked. You should be able to give a pretty good tug on any of the wires you connected to and not be afraid of the connections comming apart, or exposing any copper. A perfect example of a bad connection is wires that are simply twisted together and then some tape thrown over them. Tape is an insulator, not a connector! Twist nuts are another good example of something that should never be done in a car. When it comes to wiring man do ir right, do it once..... Taking the extra 5-10 mins, and spending the extra 25 cents in doing it right will save hours of troubleshooting and wire chasing....... PRICELESS....

Take a look at my wiring in my car on my cardomain page. I may not have much in there about my wiring as I do not like to expose it and I am **** about keeping it clean and orderly.
