i had that deck in my last car for about 3 months before it got jacked. best deck ive ever owned hands down (8v amp outs, that map thing whatever they call it, sexy looking faceplate [that has multiple color settings too, like 7 different color schemes to match the inside of ur car], aux input jack so for 20$ you can get an mp3 adapter, tons of stuff).

unfortunately its not detachable, and thats why it got stolen (broad daylight on the side of hwy 98 here in florida, was eating dinner in a restaurant came out to a shattered window and a ripped out cd player). thats my only problem with it. i would look into the newer generations if you have the money (cd 7100, its the cd5000 with a detachable faceplate), its like 350 or 500 on ebay.

No the eclipse security network, when someone pulls it from your car they go to put it in theres and it pops up with a 1-800 number and...

Honestly I dont know the exact process they use, but I know the way they recover alot of units is they say if they mail it to Eclipse they will unlock it free and if you reprt it stolen and it's registered they recover it, fix what was broken if any, and since 90% of the time the harness is gone of damaged they send you a new one with it.

Most theives are stupid enough to spend $8 to send it to the to use a several hundred dollar head unit. Until it's unlocked it's bascially useless, so I believe their recovery rate is rather high. Aside from the few where people steal them and just let them sit in a closet for years and let them evaporate.

With ESN becoming more known about, I guess that in comparison to number of units purchased to units reported stolen and figuring in other trends, some "smart" theives when they look in a car pass the opportunity because it's not worth them time to even steal it. I dont know if I believe that too many theives are up and up on their headunit knowledge but I can see a couple of them passing, not an insane number though.

Anyway, im going to email Eclipse and ask them to explain how ESN works as best they can and post it in my sticky.

yeah i never turned that on. the thief was kind enough to leave blood all over my car (he broke the window out with the back end of a knife so his hand got cut to shreds as there was massive amounts of blood EVERYWHERE). gotta call the PD tomorrow, cuz i got a call like a month ago from the officer that took my report so hopefully he found something out. i cant call him during the day cuz im a shift worker and on the weekends im usually iniebrated or sleeping.

it was a rush job (broad daylight right off a busy *** street). left my 300+$ radar detector sitting on the windshield, a stack of cd's, friends backpacks in the back seat (that happened to have wallets and **** like that cuz we just got back from the beach), my subs in the trunk which they made no effort to get to (impossible anyways i locked my trunk from the inside, only way to get in the trunk is the key or pry it open)

appreciate it tho. i wish i would have looked a little harder into that but eh. it was a crappy neighborhood lot of crackheads around. im sure it was in a pawn shop the next day, or its still sitting in a closet, or he traded it for whatever he needed bad enuff to cost me 700+$ in damages and its in someones car right now. sad part is he probably only got about 50 bucks for it, unless he stole it to put it in his car.

Yeah when mine got broke into they took everything, like my change, a crappy mp3 player, cd's everything. Except a $300 shifter and a $200 G-Timer, but they took a underbody neon controller that was mounted in my glovebox...

Kinda weird to see what they take and what they leave behind.

They also left the rap cd's behind

yeah. well when ppl are in a rush (particularly if its dark) they will sometimes leave things in plain sight and find seemingly worthless junk to steal. in my case tho it was broad daylight next to one of the busiest roads in town. the only reason they broke into it was cuz some douchebag with a big white jeep cherokee with 5% windows parked next to me and gave them a nice view block from the street [:@]

its just so ****ing petty...i hope they all die a horrible death
