My clarion ISa 4 ch amp!

I went to CC today to talk to the guy, and he said that I need a 2ch amp to run the subs, and the 4ch will run the infinities...he said I COULD run the subs off the Clarion, but it will be soo weak and I wont hear too much...is that even true?

They were going to set me up with a Kicker 12" sub for $190 and a box for $55. Then he said I need a 2 ch amp to run it, and then the RCA cables and I'm set...soo around $260.00 out the door without the Amp...like $400 with the amp...but I walked off skeptically...[&:]

So COULD I run my clarion with a Sub and my current speakers?

I got this one and figured for the price if it sucked it was going to be ok. I placed it in my 07 stang with a rcokford 450.2 amp. The sound was great and they were tight and hit hard. I was pleased with the price to the sound quality. There are better out there but you can not beat this for the price.... They also have them in 12". The box and 10" fit in my 07....

good luck....

Dude just go to Best Buy and get what they suggest. You like the cool looking things then get them.

Those are some of the choppiest sounding woofers I have ever heard, I had one on my sales floor for over a year and couldnt sell it (at or above cost) because a single MTX 4500 12" in a ported box for $150 sounded days better and got plenty louder. Ended up selling the thing for like $75 finally.

You can bridge the rear channel and run it to a woofer, but the power may be on the low side, I would keep the clarion in your car buy a decent little 2 channel and a single 12" and have a box MADE for you, it doesnt seem you have the will power to build one yourself and any pre-fab box will drastically destroy your final quality. I cannot stress enough how much a well designed enclosure can make any woofer sound much better.

I threw a 12" sony woofer out of an old $100 home powered woofer when the amp went out on it into my eD designed box and the thing got much louder than it ever should have considering how crappy the thing is.

I'm very uneducated about car audio, so don't ridicule me for not knowing what is quality and what is not.

So it seems I'll be buying a small 2ch amp...now what are the specifications I need, like wattage and all that other stuff, and how much would I be looking at?

Then I'll need a 12" good quality sub...

Thena wiring kit and RCA's....now heres where I'm confused...how do I wire the new amp into the Alpine head unit if I ALREADY have the clarion wired to it? Can my Alpine take multiple amps? If so, whats the procedure on wiring that?

And finally a box...what specs and sizes would I be looking at? 12" obviously, but like how high, wide, and long?

OK so I think I'm going to go with the edesigns subs...2 of them, because you guys say they're good and they only cost $25.00.

Then I'm going to try and custom fab this enclosure...I don't need it to hit hard, just some good cruising bass.

And lastly buy a decent 2ch amp to power the subs...now what specs should I look for on the amp besides it being a 2ch? I also have to figure out how to wire 2 amps into one head unit...anybody know how I can do this????

Heres the trunk setup I REALLY like...

What do you guys think?

most decks have more than 1 pre-out, if not see if one of your amps will have a pre-out built into it.

Yes alot of amps will have an input and a pre-out/output so you can just run a jumper from one amp to the other, it saves money instead of buying 2 18 foot RCA cables and just buying 1 long one and one 3 foot one.

With two of them you should be plenty happy with the SQ and Output, are you build the fiberglass boxes for the corners?

OK well heres what I did today instead...I got a good deal on the whole package, so I went ahead and bought this stuff.

I got a package deal from a local renound auto audio store...they gave me:

-2 Rockford/Fosgate Punch series10" Subs...Just off the line and good quality for Rock music...I could have gone 12"s but they were a bit big for my liking.
-1 Pre-fabbed 10" dual sub box. The norm...just a plain old box I'm going to mount behind the back seat.
-1 Rockford Fosgate Punch series 2ch amp. Cool lil thing.
-An RCA from the head which I just found out that I have, already installed in the car!
-1 Power Wire from the distribution block.
-1 Remote wire to splice into the Clarion.

Total Cost: $331.00 with tax. Not a bad deal, if you ask me...

All I need is to dig out some speaker wires from a box in the garage, and I'm set, right!?!?

I'm doing the install myself, but I just read off the intructions and it seems pretty self explanitory considering I have most of the necessary components in place already.

Thanks again for all the help. I just need to go mount everything and I'm set! I'll let you know how it goes.

That is nota bad setup and I hope you are satisifed, but don't ever sit in the car with someone that actually buys one of the setups we recommend.
