Default Blown left side Mach 460 tweeter

Like 2 weeks ago i got a '96 GT. after testing the limits of the after market stereo, i discovered the left side tweeter is blown. I have read a few forums and i have two tweeters to replace the stock ones with, but i was wondering if theres a how-to or something that would help me replace them. kinda new to this MUSTANG thing.

Default RE: Blown left side Mach 460 tweeter

welcome to the mustang thing.......

Is the stock deck in the car still? If so then that is why the speakers are blown as the stock equipment has cross overs built in to protect them. they are still pretty weak and can be blown with the stock equipment as well. The good news is that speaker is easy to replace since it uses a standard 4 ohm speaker(unlike the 8 ohm 5 x 7 in the door). I think it is a 2.5" er something like that, they are reletivly cheap do to the size.. I have not see a write up on them so this could be a good way for you to introduce yourself and do one if you want and we would be happy to help ya.

To get the grill off(on my 94 anyway) push on the top corner of the speaker towards the ground, and then gently pry it out to the center of the car. Now squeeze the other corners and work it the rest of the way off. If you need to remove the entire tweeter enclosure you will need to remove the door panel.
