Mach 460 Trouble...
..Still having trouble guys. I bought the new H/U and went to a local shop and bought the wiring harness he assured me I needed, it says ford premium 03, it will not work, i guess premium and mach is different? it has basically 2 plugs, 1 thats like 2 inches wide, 1 that has the rca's on it. the rca jack i think would fit but the big 1 is about the same size as the other 2 harness' that are in the car now. Should I buy this from ebay ...

unfortunatly I am not familiar with the '03 models as they came out after I moved to Az. Nobody drives domestics here.
Pull your radio out and look at the back of it where the hrns's plug in. You want to buy a hrns that looks EXACTLY the same as the back of the radio.

i called the local best buy, he said he has the metra that i need, well that best buy isnt really local, its like over an hour away but ill probably go and get it monday, can someone tell me this though ... where do the rca's on the metra kit hook up? if im not mistaken it goes into the cd player right? i have front/rear/subwoofer rcas on that HU, the subwoofer plug is blue so i doubt its that one.
Yea bestbuy now carries that part. So they should have it. You will have a couple of plugs with the 70-5519. One plug will be the standard 98-03 harness (a larger plug), the other will be a smaller plug with a pair of RCA's, 2 amp ground wires (black/white), and two remote wires (blue/white). You would wire the the standard harness up like normal. You must hook up the speaker wires because this is the harness that drives your tweeters. The smaller harness you will need to ground the black/white wires, give the blue/white wires ACC (accessory), and plug the RCA's perferably into your rear pre-outs on the back of your radio (this harness will give you your mid-woofers). You won't be able to balance your speakers, but you can fade them.
you may need a line driver for the subs to sound half way descent. The factory amps are use to getting a little hotter input signal then most decks want to put out. The bass will sound very soft and bad if you need one.
a line driver is a low level amplifier. It will take a low voltage RCA signal and boost it up a couple of volts. That piece is one that you may need to do some calling around for, I would start at the local shops as this is not a thing a big box will carry.
Relax mang, we will get you through it.
