Default 2 Channel amp with 4...

Just got some new alpine speaker $100 for four (YESS!) because Circuit City is doing away with them and are going with Kickers, bad move on their part, so they are selling the alpines cheap. I'm going to put them in but my MTX amp is a 2-channel and I don't want to spend money unless it's on performance right now so will amplifying the front two speakers sound good without the back speakers amped?? Any help would be great

Thanks!

Should be fine, do you have a system? I mean your headunit will more than power the needs of 4 and then some. I'd leave the amp for the subs and let the head unit power the speakers.

I have a pioneer system that puts out 50 watts X 4. The Alpine speakers are 200 watts max, so I want it LOUD. I would like to do the subs, and I have a pair of 10" JBLs but I don't want the weight. But prob will eventually put in the subs...who knows.

do u have the deh p7700mp or 7600, because thats how much my 7700 puts out, i have rocford 6x9's that can handle 175watts and they are so under powered, u can hear the distortion, can u, i bet u can. if u can u need a amp not a big one just somethin to get a little more juice. I need to amp mine but i want subs and dont feel like two amps to power everything to the max.

Well I haven't put the speakers in yet, but I know they are under powered because I tried them at Circuit City without an amp and they were distorted...but with an amp they sounded sweet on full blast So If i amp the front speakers, it shouldnt sound bad right?

everthing will sound better amped. i would leave the fronts stock for now if you were planning on putting 2 of the alpines in front w/out an amp it wouldnt sound good. i would install the backs w/ the amp for now. But if u want to dish out the bucks get 2 4 channel amps and then amp each spaeker w/ one amp then amp two subs.then it would sound tight.
