Default Clean Slate - Help me design

01 Mustang GT Coupe with Mach 460. I'm ripping it completely out and starting over. I listen mostly to a weird mix of Classic Rock and new Country (Foreigner, Boston, Journey, Big & Rich, etc.) I like some Bass, but not too much. Sound Quality is better then loudness, but I still want to crank it up. Oh, and I'll install it.

I like the looks of double DIN head units, and I like the idea of a Hard drive or USB capability. I dont have an Ipod or anything, just CDs.

Recommendations? I want the entire system to cost $1000 (or less, not more).

Should I go with component or coaxial? Just front speakers and a sub, or should I get front and rear with a sub? What are my size options and which is better? What would you buy in my situation?

Personally i would go with two 6x9's, a couple 5in fronts, dual subs, quality amp, and of course a head unit that can pump out the bass!!
i dont know the price that would come out to, sorry. but dont low ball too many components or your system will sound like crap.
as for brands, i dont know either. still new to systems. good luck
im sure it will sound good in the end

I'm pretty sure 6x9's wont fit without some cutting.

Here's what I'm leaning towards:

Head Unit - JVC KW-XG700 - $170
Amp - Cadence TXA-6004 - $180
Powered Sub - Infinity Basslink 10" - $160
Front Components - Focal 165V1 - $230
Rear Components - Focal 165V1 - $230

Total = $970

Is that Amp too powerful for those speakers?
Will the 6.5's fit in the stock speaker openings?

Any other ideas for me?

How about this-

your head unit youchose ( i know you like the DD but i would look into some other head units by Eclipse/Clarion/Alpine or JVC's top of the line stuff) $170
Front comps-
Morel Tempo 6 $240
or
CDT EF61FG $200 ($250 w/ upgrade)
or
CDT ES-610 $300
or
Diamond s600s $290

Amp-
eD NINe.4 $245
or
eD NINe.2x $275
or
Diamond D3 400.2 $270

Sub-
eD 13Ov.2 $175

Amp-
Profile AP2000 $210

Most amount- $1130
Least amount- $1000

if i had around $1000 that is what i would be looking at. Of course, my personality is to push the limits of my budget for quality so that is why my list is a bit high.

P, Ttocs, Seight, constructive criticsms or ideas?

Wow, thanks for the help!

So would you just go with one set of components up front and none in the rear?

From everything that i have read, been guided with and have experienced, a solid front stage is completely adequate and fulfilling in reproducing proper sound. Remember that you are trying to recreate the experience in a certain position, and a lot of people fight to either recreate that sound in one specific position or to have an omnipresent sound that no matter where you are it sounds perfect. It is very difficult to do the latter in an automobile. If you would like to have a bit of sound in the back, most put in rear fill with something to reproduce mid bass.

What i have just said is a very generalized idea of what i have put together from my learning to create the best sounding system.

I am hoping to get the Morel or Diamond comps in the near future for my car. But i have also heard tremendous things about the CDT's. All in all, remmeberthat just about anything will be better than the stock components. Just adding my 11Ov.2's and ripping out my rear speakers, my car sounds ten times better.

just know any 6.5 you put in you will have to fabricate or buy an adapter. i had to fabricate themto put my focals in and cut a little. i like focal cdt and morel and i like what joey has sugested minus the h/u. i like pioneer premier 680ub, 790bt, 880prs maybe an alpine.
