what kind of sub setup?
i got 2 12" clarion subs with a 2050 watt amp from my cousin about a week ago but the box is too big to fit in the trunk. it fits perfectly in my backseat when i fold the seatsdown but i've heard that subs sound like crap when they face toward the front. i dont have them wired up yet because i have to get a new head unit first. the amp is bolted on the opposite side of the box so i cant face the subs toward the roof unless i take the amp off and bolt it on to the other side of the box. but if i did that then i think the holes (from the original bolts) would effect the sound. any suggestions on what i can do to maximize the look and sound of my subs? i dont really care about having them so loud my ears bleed, ijust wanta good clean sounding system with lots of bass.
I would build a new box. SO MUCH of the sound of the subs is determined by the box. Spend the $30 and the few hours and make a box that fits. Then, mount the amp somewhere else. Though many people mount their amps on their boxes with no problems, it takes away from the structural integrity of the box. And, then when you try to orient the box a different way or change amps, now you have holes in your box you must fill.
As far as orientation of the box, forward or back, I think that ismost determined by listening preference.

so you all are suggesting that i put the new box in my trunk or keep it in my backseat? or either one? and how do i go about sealing the edges of the box so that the air cant escape?
also, does it matter how close together or far apart the subs are from each other? because if i build a smaller box i would obviously have to move them closer to fit in my trunk...
as far as that 2050 watt amp, im really not sure if thats right, i just assumed thats what it was because i saw it on the amp... its a lanzar optidrive 2050... i looked all around that amp to see if it definitely said how many watts in would put out but that 2050 is the only number i could find... i tried looking it up on the internet but i guess the model is so old that lanzar took it off their site...

To seal the edges of the box, either use caulk for the inside edges (I never do) or use Gorilla Glue.
I swear by Gorilla Glue and it's all I ever use. It seals it up very nicely and it manages to seep into any small crevasses and fills in quite nicely.
Would you mind posting some pictures of the amp? If it's one of the old Lanzar Opti's, you've got a very nice amp on your hands (although I'm pretty sure it's not 2000W or anything near it). If it's what I'm thinking, it's got plenty of power for your subs and is a very quality (Zed Audio-built) amp. Post some pictures! :>

The reason gorilla glue works is becuase it expands like crazy an fills any gaps in very nicely. If you didn't use gorilla glue, go buy yourself a cheap tube of clear silicone. Use a caulk gun and run it along the edges. It will make a very nice seal.
