lol.

I only jumped to defend them because they really are quality speakers (I never--ever--thought I'd say that or anything even close to that about a damn $5 speaker). You're probably right about the Mach system and slapping these in as 4ohm drivers where the stock speaker is 8ohm. I'll note that and use a 4ohm dummy load to make the 8ohm load if I put these in any mach systems from here on out. I generally try to avoid using stock systems or even allowing any of my friends to use stock systems, heh..

As for my setup, one of my stereos is trading its $5 components for a pair of ID CX62's and some ID CD1E full-body horns. My Arc amps are being shipped off for new powder/silkscreen and then they're off to Arc to be completely rebuilt. In all honesty, I'd put my Arcs against your Diamond amps any day of the week (that's not an insult of any sort--they're both just sickeningly nice amps) without even flinching. Now, that being said, your install will be better because this will be my first experience with horns. But I'll have some help tweaking everything just right, so watch out.

That being said, sorry for jumping your case and defending my $5 speakers, but I know they're quality (I'm really not sure how--lmao). Like you said, everyone has their own preferences and you might absolutely hate them. I do, however, feel that I've listened to plenty of variety to be able to subjectively listen to them. *shrug*

Truce? :P

we cool and the gang then........

Arc does make stuff good enough to go with ID, and I hold ID in high regards. Horns however are not my thing really. When they are done right it is a seemless soundstage but the mounting difficulty and tweeking difficulty(both install related) imo are more trouble then they are worth. Of course now as I type that I am remembering how much of a pia my kicks were to make and to cover sooooo idunno.......

Don't get me started on f@#%!ing kicks.

I tried to go with the cheap route and bought some QLogic kicks for my Expedition (yeah yeah yeah, I know.) and when I was done stiffening them up with fiberglass, they didn't fit. At all. Grr.

As for the horns, eh, I dunno. I'm getting two sets for $165, so I can't really complain. Heh.

LOL.

I just realized how badly the mid in this OEM set flexes when I apply even the slightest bit of pressure on it.

Ok, so I won't argue how great these speakers are and we'll downgrade them to "excellent stock speaker replacements". :P
