my stock mach 460 headunit is toast.... i wonder how i can upgrade to a better setup? i want a car pc in as well.... i plan on putting a touch screen lcd where the radio use to be but what do i do for the rest? im new to the car stereo world as i had a friend help me with the one in the truck (on the componets, not the install).

there are some options for stuff like this but what are you wanting to get out of it? If you are not going to have a serious use for it do you really want your tunes controlled by windows?

 

they make a program that you put in the windows that can boot up on startup... also i can read all my engine data on it with another program.

 

I personally have never put one in as the idea of anything windows based in my car scares the crap outta me. Computers are how I pay my bills but I hate them.... Next thing you know you will have to touch both bumpers and one mirror to turn the car of after it asks you,"are you sure?".

I have read some write ups on them here and there more as curiosity then anything. I would be happy to help you integrate into the 460 but you would have to do the legwork of pickin stuff out. If all you want is for data aquisition for engine managment I would personally go for a laptop myself.

 

yea, im wanting it for the engine dianostics and also for the music storage. its like a ipod with more features. i looked at them on mp3car.com but they havent been too helpful with any info. also it will have navi and internet if i want it.


yea, i know what you mean with cars with this much technology into them..... this is something you would see in a high dollar mercedes or bmw. heh.

is there any way of making the 460 have like some av plugs to go into the back of the computer?
