new hu needed
well i have a set of 12" kickers and a nice amp already installed in my trunk (spliced into the rear speaker wires)
I still have the mach460 hu and was thinking about swaping it out so i can run rca cables from the hu to the amp and to the subs for much better sound....
what does everyone think of this unit? my PRIMARY wants are ease of iPod connectivity and sound/bass quality

some more secondary are bluetooth, hd radio, and sat. radio ready
since there are some very knowlegable people on this site i was wonding what ya all thought, is this a good unit? are there better ones? i am willing to bend a little but do not want to pay over 160ish

looks good but i hope you know what you're getting into with the mach 460 system... im doing the same thing you're doing and i've been told by a lot of people that when i get my head unit and subs installed that the sound quality of the tweeters and the door speakers are gonna sound like crap because of the mach 460 wiring and speakers being different
Pioneer is the greatest!!! Sure the alpine's and eclipse h/u may have some better features but they are a pain in the azz to use. I've been installing for years and ALL of my personal vehicles have pioneer headunits. I had a couple alpines and a sony or two, but i always resort back to pioneer. Easy to use, looks great, reliable, sounds great, you can't go wrong. But yea, you gotta get the right harness to integrate with you factory crappy 460 system, or rip it all out and go crazy with it. I had a customer in here last week that i think joined this forum after i put in his system in his 2002 GT. I did a Pioneer 7900, infinity kappa speakers all around, 1 typeR 12" sub and a rockford 1000watt amp, rewired all his speaker wire with some nice 16 gauge. Sounded great, looked great, still had a little trunk space. Do it right, do it once, or don't do it at all.

Don't believe the hype. most installers have a knee-jerk reaction to any kind of premium sound system, the 460 is cake to be honest. I cover a little bit of it in my cardomain page 2
