Default Boxless Bass

I got about 2200 dollars and am trying to put together a real nice system for my 07 mustang.

I have my eyes set on an Eclipse AVN6610.

I was going to do 5-7s in the doors, and 8 inch subs in the rear deck lid and have a 4 channel amp push all of this. I was told this was bad because there will really be no bass if i mount them on the rear deck lid. And the 4 channel amp should not be pushing speakers and subs.

I really do not want to have a box in my trunk. So what should i do?

it will work but you'll need to purchase a free air sub. the thing with free air subs is they are not effecient at all. I would do like i did, even though u state you don't want a box in the trunk, is to stick with 1 sub. I have a 10 jlw6 that sounds great in my wrx. take up very very little space using a sealed enclosure. you'll be happier with doing something like that.

keep in mind that you don't need 2 subs...for every speaker you add you only gain 3-6 db.

my TA has 2 6.5" subs in it, came from factory but these are replacements. good bass, but nothing like a bigger sub. I can just kinda feel it in my chest when it hits, but if you really want it to go boom you need a box

Does $2200 include the Elcipse HU. That is a great unit. Top quality sound processing and appearence.

With such an awesome HU, you really need to invest in better quality drivers then some 5x7 coax's and a couple free air 8's.

Using the woofersetc.com price for the HU that means you have $600 left for the rest of the system. Here is what I would go with...

Front Comps: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3341$200, they will fit in your 6x8 openings by making a super easy adapter plate. Front speakers are really all youneed if set up correctly.

Front Amp: http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/4349$115 (good for the money, but if you had more money you could get better)

Sub Amp: http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/4349(Same as above)

Subs: 2x http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=31$200 (Dual 4 ohm version)

With a couple hundred dollars more for you amps and subs, you could put together an excellent system, but this one will sound very good at a little over $600!

They make sub boxes for the s197 that fit in the back corners of the trunk flush and do not take up much space. I would check into those. Choosing a free air sub is a redicoulous option when you are wanting to spending that much money.

1- http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=29 $75
1- http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=46 $245
1- http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...roducts_id=287 $130
1- http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3341 $200

About $50 over your budget including the 6610 from woofersetc, but well worth it. This paired up with the 6610 will be very clean sounding, and dont let the 8" sub fool you, in the ported box, that thing will amaze you for its size and price.

P, I dont think he needs that much, he also wants to take up little amount of space. he doesn't want to take up any actually, sounds like the less the better.
