1990 Lx Mustang Gutted Stereo.
So i started gutting my stereo, and i am so happy i did. This fool who used to own this car was a mess. There was a red possive wire that ran from the battery, through the fire wall, under the carpet, to the trunk, and was just chilling there, barely covered. They ran a wire to the head deck, that went down the drivers side, and then under the cartep they spliced into the cord that is there for the power seats. It had an old alarm system ( see other post https://mustangforums.com/m_4317293/...tm.htm#4317293) that had wires everywhere! And as soon as i disabled it, my horn worked. ? The truck went from 6 random wire sets, to no only 2 for the speakers. I feel so much better that i did this yesterday.
I just bought this car, and i was doing everything to it, i took all the seats out, and i feel so much better knowing more aobut my car.

aha I knew it! 90% of the alarm wiring is behind that cover....
Is the factory amp still under the radio or under the pass seat? Did you have power locks and do they still work?

you would see it. It is a metal octagonal shaped box with a bunch of holes in it. It doesn't really matter if there is one or is not one. The premium systems are easily bypassed if they are there.
haha i had the same thing with mine. The guy left all the power wires and speaker wires in tangle. I copletly rewired my whole stero system, Now i know what is exactly hooked up and where. Its amazing knowing what is going on. One question would you happen to know what wire controls the beeping sound when the headlights are left on. I cut it at the time and forgot to mark it
