sub direction for 02 gt
You always get the best sound with the sub box facing the rear. I tried to turn my box towards the inside of my car and it sounded like sh*t! So the best direction is towards the rear...
I dont know who told you that, but thats bs!! You need the subs facing towards the rear to get the bass through the trunk. Dont take my word for it try it yourself, Im telling you you'll get the best sound and bass if u face it towards the rear Atlanticblue is on CRACK!
Even though me and Jimmz don't agree on much, I must back him up on this one. If you face the speakers torwards the back of the trunk you can gain as much as 3-4db rather than faceing them to the front, trust me 3-4db is a huge difference. Also when faceing speakers torwards the seats the seats actually can absorb some of the sound pressure, where faceing torwards the rear gives you a more solid area for the waves to bounce off of.
the guy that owns anything audio, a car audio shop around here said that facing toward the seats give the effect you just described. it gives a stronger hit b/c the waves bounce off the seat real quickly then around the rest of the trunk and back. the first quick hit gives the good sound. power them to an ac outlet in your house and put it in a room and face them into the open and here the hits. now turn them around and let it hit. you will get more harder hits with it facing a wall, seat, etc. thats the example i was given?
LOL, thanks stngfrk! yeah its a known fact, and I know stngfrk knows what hes talking about, becuz he seems to know a lot about car audio. We just disagree on brands lol. But yeah man, if you dont believe us, try it for yourself. And youll see, all I know is i tried to face my subs towards the seat and it sounded like crap!
Playing subs in your room and in your trunk has nothing to do with each other, tell me this if you play a sub in the middle of your room how can you compare that to faceing the back of your trunk that shuts and is solid metal. A trunk of a mustang has around 10sqft most rooms have at least 100sqft. There can be no comparison in that respect. Your back seat has a thin peace of wood and a lot of foam, the rest of your trunk is solid metal, foam and wood absorb the energy a lot more than metal.
i believe that you face them to the rear because the wave length is so long for low frequencies. the waves reflect off the trunk into the passenger compartment giving you the most bass. if they were facing forward there is only maybe 3-4 feet between yourself and the subs, mine face the trunk but i could be wrong
thanks for the info....sounds like I started a war zone though...LOL when you face them towards the trunk they have to bounce back through the box.....it takes up all the room from top to bottom. Will this affect them?
