Trust me on this one, face them towards the back of the trunk, not the back of the seat. If you would rather not take my word for it then click here I have two twelve inch subs in my 05 and they are firing to the rear of the trunk and they hit extremely hard.

I have no performance modifications done to my Mustang, but I have invested over four-thousand in the audio.

First thing is first.
Do not go with sealed. I can give you a million and one graphs with the sine wave but that would be useless. Coming from experience, go ported: particularly slotted ported.

Second.
If you must use a sealed box, face it towards the hatch of the trunk. People saying that rear-facing boxes are for looks only need to be shot in the foot. Sound quality is reduced and you lose anywhere from 3-10 dB with them facing driver.

Last.
If you decide to go slotted ported, you will have to build two independent boxes in order to fit the 2 12's in the trunk with the box. In this event, your boxes should be angled like in the diagram I have created.

LMNOP is correct, if you go with sealed, face it to the rear as I stated in my first post on this topic, but if you go with a ported enclosure, be prepared to give up your trunk. If space is not an issue, go ported definitely. However, if as in my case, you want to keep some trunk space, sealed is your only option. I put my 2 12" subs in a sealed enclosure and fired them to the back. They hit very hard and I can still access my spare tire and carry thing around in the trunk. I will post pictures later.
