Adding Sirius To 02 GT Mach 460?
Hey guys, I've got an 02 GT with the Mach 460. I have an existing sat service with Sirius from a truck I just sold, so the svc is on hold. I bought (from Sirius) a Starmate 'add-on' sat radio system. Anyone here have a similar setup? Any advice or comments on mounting and install? Kind of curious just where did you mount the thing?! Thanks in advance.
Nobody?......Well, had the unit installed. It's a Starmate 4. Not many good places to mount this thing, kind of a flimsy setup mounted to the right of the shifter on the console. Anyway, this thing has tons of static regardless of what channel you sync it with. Anybody here use the FM interconnect thing that goes between the FM antenna and two units?
Eh I used to and kinda work at Radio Shack when I'm not at school and there's a few ways to go about it. For starters the Sirius satellite antennas suck a$$. They're usually the first thing that goes, sirius is however looking into making them more reliable. As far as an FM transmitter, the Sirius uses a wireless one which is pretty crappy as well, Monster makes a corded one that is top notch but your paying anywhere from 40$ and up. If you get a chance check the back of your stereo head unit for an audio in port, Sirius makes a direct cable that is less than 20$ that would plug directly from the Sirius to the head unit. Undoubtly this is the best way to go. In traffic FM transmitters may pick up alternate cars and you'll get more static.
On a side note newer stereo systems are coming out with an AUX in located in your center consol or on the head unit and if your connecting a Ipod, MP3 etc... you'd just buy a 1,3,6 foot cord that has 1/8" connectors on both ends and will give you a better quality sound.
Online is your best bet to buying these cables/transmitters.

Thank you for your reply. I don't think the Mach460 has an audio in on the back. It definately does not have an AUX IN on the front. Guess I'll have to get the little tools to pull it out and see, or try to find a pic somewhere of the back of the unit. Thanks again.
