be aware that most shops will tell you that you need to rip everything out of the mach system. It is not true. While mixing and matching equipment to the stock stereo can be tricky but it is not impossible. I cover the mach system a little on page 2 of my cardomain page.

oh! meant to ask, do you only want to add a substage, are you looking to replace everything, are you planning on constructing/installing yourself?

if you are fairly happy with what you have then you might just consider adding a amp and sub. The factory system is ok except with the lack of real low end(the factory 5 x 7's can only do so much) that a sub can add. You can also get better sound with a new deck.

You probably have too much snow to drive the car now eh? It was 64 today in phoenix eh?

ttocks i dont know if your mocking me with the "EH's" lol its cool its true us canadians say that alot . haha

ya i am decently happy with the stock sound in my car a sub would probably help alot. i like my music loud and clear with GOOD base, not overpowering where you cant hear the lyrics but i want it to pound hard enough

i definitly need a new deck i dont like the stock one it sucks.

any suggestions for subs (i would prefer to get 2 10" subs) and amps? i dont know ANYTHING about amps.

hopefully i get some suggestions by tomorrow, im looking forward to look around

so what im looking for is

2 10" subs
deck (want alpine but will listen to suggestions)
Amp

and

POSSIBLE 2 back seat speakers, i dont really like what they sound like right now so aftermarket ones would help.

would i be able to find something thats compatible with the mach system allready in it? i only want to add 2 back speakers, and amp, 2 subs, and a deck... i dont know if it will be a problem matching em all up.

I just noticed you said you had an "upgraded" sound system in the car, is it the mach, mach500-1000?

I am not the guy to ask what products to buy as my tastes in audio gear is based on what I can install and then forget about rather then price. Alpine has always been a favorite of mine for decks, speakers eh idunno.

Start with the deck, page 2 of my cardomain page covers it.

Alright! now we have some guidleines!

First. Ditch the rears altogether. They are worthless. If you want an explanation let us know.

Second. If you wanted to replace the rears, lets go and replace the fronts. That way we can ditch the entire mach system. Something like low end CDT's or eD's or Diamond's.

CDT CL-S60A's $100

Third. H/U. Alpine, Eclipse, Clarion, Pioneer. All good. Personally i like the Eclipse Units.

Eclipse CD3000 or CD3100 $215

Fourth. SUBS. eD, Adire, Fi, Soundsplinter, JL (if you can find them cheap enough), Old RE, Old Old Orion. I really like my eD 11Ov.2's

Elemental Designs 11Ov.2's $310
(Build your own Box $30)

Fifth. Amplifier. eD, JL ( again, if you can find it cheap enough), Zapco, Diamond, I don't mind kicker or fosgate but don't think i would buy one retail. Oh, Profile is a great cheap amp.

Elemental Designs NINe.1 $275

I know that puts you a bit high on the budget, but it is just a guideline.
Install it all your self. It will be a great learning experience. Also, you need a wiring kit. eD and Kicker are great. Also, If you do go with the eD subs, I would go ported on the box since you don't care about space. With the top down, my full exhaust at full tilt at 3K RPM, i can still hear the bass with my subs in a sealed box. ALSO, at some point in time, think about deadening the trunk and the space up into the cabin. With the top down, it is very difficult to get bass in the cabin. I removed the back panel of the trunk to aid in SPL.
