Default 3 way components?

I'm looking at putting a new front stage in my 06 convertible. It has the shaker 500 system, and I want to put a set of 6.5" components in kick panels, and I was thinking about getting an 8" midbass driver and a set of active crossovers and tuning up a 3 way component setup. I read somewhere that components are best left in the kicks, and the midbass driver in the door. i think that since the midbass driver will have a relatively shallow mounting depth so they should fit in the doors unless the shaker subs are crappier than I think they are. I should also mention that as well as this, I plan on deadening the entire car, including at least 3 layers of mat in the trunk, and at least 2 doors to seal off the doors for those drivers. I plan on putting 2 8" subs in the trunk with at least 300 watts to each, and throwing 100-150 watts at the components.

I wouldn't be opposed to just hooking up a standard 2 way component set in kick panels, and amping them, but I really don't want that big open hole in my door where the shaker sub was. I know nobody will be able to tell that there's not a speaker in there, but it would bother the hell out of me.

Is my setup feasible if I tune it right, and if not what are people doing with the big 8" hole in their doors if they remove the subs.

Thanks.

I use a 3 way 6-4-1 diamond audio hex set and love them. I made kicks for mine using the stock panels and have never been happier. It was a pia that was worth it.

It is a 3 way setup, just matched together seperately, using slightly larger than traditional woofers.

I know, I am just wondering why you don't use a pre-set up 3 way system like ttocs. much easier, already tuned to nearly where it should be, can always go active if wanted.

Yeah, I guess I could do that, and still utilize the kicks and stock lower speaker configurations. I was just hoping the 8" driver would fit in the panel without too much hassle. That's a valid option though.

you will need a shallow mount 8 and it still takes some time. I made enclosures for the 6.5's to help me get a little more low end out of them you should have enough space for that.

I thought about something like the kicker ss 8" midbass driver. Probably not the kicker (before all the kicker haters come in....jk) but possibly something similar but maybe less expensive.

if you are really wanting to run 3 ways up front I would recommend a matched set. Different speakers play different volumes at different speakers.

True, but I'm not sure if a matched setup exists that utilizes a 8" midbass driver. I think it'll be ok if I use active crossovers though. I mean, that's what those ss woofers were designed to do. But, I feel I should say that I reserve the right to be completely wrong.
