TTOCS,

I think I know why it didn't pop in my other mustang. The 460 system doesn't have subwoofers in the doors. The Shaker 500 system has 2 8" subwoofers and those are what's doing the popping. It's the only real difference I see between the two systems.

What do you think?

Oh yeah, I'm getting the resistor put in my car tonight, will let you know how it turns out.

the 460 has the exact same woofers in the doors as it does in the rear. The only difference is that they do not have an enclosure like the ones in the rears do. Now the rear subs in the mach play a mono signal unlike the stereo front subs, but they are the exact same speaker, with the exact same amp pushing them. I could take pics of my door woofers if you like?

The resistor will work if it is done right.

Another question.

When they installed the same head unit into my Mach 460 system, I lost all my bass. With the Shaker 500 system, I kept it all. You don't suppose they were just idiots and disconnected the subwoofers to eliminate the popping sound do you? So I'd never know the difference.

Well I just got back from Best Buy and he not only installed the resistor but he actually improved the look of my DVD player by making it more flush with the dash. The popping is officially gone and the system sounds the exact same. So all and all it works and sounds great. And the best part is, he didn't even charge me to do it since it was something they should have done in the first place.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm glad it's resolved.

Now I just have to figure out how to tell them to hook up the trunk to pop with my VIper 5900 alarm since they can't locate the wiring for it.

YOU ARE DAMNED RIGHT THEY BETTER NOT HAVE CHARGED YOU.... YOU SHOULD HAVE CHARGED THEM FOR THE KNOWLEDGE YOU GAVE THEM!

So now the good part of that install is that if you EVER have a problem, go straight back to em. It is their install, and they are responsible for it.

So just curious how he admited defeat and broke the news to you? I promise that part of him wanted it to work(so he can do it to other cars from now on) and another part of him wanted it to fail so he could say "told ya so!". Wish I could have been there to see it, God I hate that place and everything it stands for.......

Actually, I didn't deal with the same guy. The guy who said it couldn't be fixed was the MANAGER who has been doing this for YEARS!! The guy who ended up fixing it was one of his employees who pretty much told me that the manager is a dip**** who didn't know what he was talking about.

Yes, I'm already enjoying the lack of a pop when I turn the car over.
