what are you wanting from the system, spl or sq? What amp are you pushing them with? 2000 watts is not 2000 watts...

you can blow any speaker with any amp if you do not keep the signal clean and distortion free. You can blowa speaker with not enough power easier then you can with too much power because the signal will start to distort and clip. When the signal is clipped it causes the speaker to push or pull to its furthestpoint and then hold there. This is the same thing as flooring your car while in nuetral and holding it there. It can do it for a while, FOR A WHILE....

hahahahaha ive never heard that one but its a good one. kinda reminds me of a couple kids from high school that got dual exhaust on thier truck (auto) and would drive around in the lowest gear just to sound the loudest. theyre actually the same people that clip the **** out of their crap with the gains and bassboost and loudness all jacked.

You are 100 % correct!!!! You can blow a speaer easier with a small amp than a big amp due to distortion. Clipping is the killer of speakers. A fully clipped sine wave is a square wave. This causes your speaker to go out as far as it can and then try to stay there until the wave changes. Then it goes to the other extreme and trys to stay there until the signal shifts again. This will eventually melt your voice coil or at least cause it to deform due to heat. Then your speaker is a gonner.

Very clean audio is the ultimate goal. However, you want to be able to do this loudly.
