Actually do you studying over again my friend because you are sadly mis-informed. there are over 200 master certified installers nationwide and best buy has about 40 of them I personally work with two installers who are master (gold) certified. And if an ape can get mecp certified then why do the majority of the people fail the test. I agree, and I dont Boast about my certification and rub it in every customers face. There are alot of best buys out there that do crappy work, esp in the mid west region. But You are sadly mis-informed in the area of MECP certification.

I have the Advanced book which is about 3 inches thick and the master book which builds off of the advanced book is only about an inch thick. That and the loudspeaker design cookbook are the only measures that you need to acheive the advanced certification.

There are many resouces that we have inform the installers in the company about tech tips on vehicles. (5v amp turn on, etc.)
Its up to the installers to utilize them.

Best Buy is an excellent company to work for and after working for local mom and pop shops I will not ever go back, the rewards that the big company offers alongside the benefits are second to none for a college student. I guarantee that I have done work on cars you wouldnt even dream of doing. Fiberglassed amp racks to trunk lids, tv's for side view mirrors, etc. I will get pics up soon but dont down grade my workplace or my integrity without even seening my work first hand.

Pass the MECP test and then you can run your mouth

As I said an ape can pass the basic (bronze) MECP test.

It's not worth $60 to have a piece of paper that says I can install 6x9's and build a box. I'm well aware of my capabilities.

A good friend of mine knowsalmost nothingabout car electronics he works at BB, he got moved to Mobile from LP, watched a bunch of decks and speakers get installed for a month and took the test and passed it. If the majority of people that take that test fail it then there must be a bunch of kids that come up with $60 to take that test and then try and apply at BB to be an installer.

You should do the same, but I see no where I de-graded your work or abilities regardless.

Maybe my information is outdated, I got those numbers when I worked at the shop I was referring to back in summer of 06.

I guarantee that I have done work on cars you wouldnt even dream of doing.
I dream big so don't jump to conclusions

What like this?

Or this, I will be honest though, this was still done at our shop but I didn't do any work to the Denali.

I'll assume your talking to him, I think Istill have my mecp cert but it is buried from over a decade ago.I will also assume you are talking to him about workin on fancy cars. They use to impress me until I moved frominstalling in the midwest to scottsdale, now they just **** me off and I would do anything to have a simple car again with a nice 5v turn on....

What store are you in? Do youwork with murph then? He has never mentioned anything about BBYcustom before and I thought with him being one of the trainers he would be in the middle of it ifhe could.

Best buy is just like any other company in that it has its good and bad points. The good points are it is a big company, lots of discounts, insurance and good pay. The bad parts are that its a big company, political bs, better hope yer boss likes ya as you are nothing there, a small number in a very large equation that is easily replaceable. Enjoy it while it lasts, it always ends....

The2nd install looks familiar. Your sayin that it is YOUR install?

When did best buy start stocking or installing custom chromed JL amps? I could never get anything better then JENSEN in there.... Who takes a viper to best buy? REally? You can understand our thoughts can't you?

Look again man, that is not my post. I didnt post any pics of any JL amps.

Yes I know of Murph, he to my most recent knowledge doesnt work for the company anymore. But I could be wrong. Last I heard he was training in Minn. but I think he went on to bigger and better things.

The part about political BS that you have to deal with and hoping that your boss likes you because you are nothing there... doesnt that apply to ANY job out there no matter where its at?

I have worked on many different vehicles at best buy, Many many basic cars (silverados, hondas, toyotas, etc.) but I have also worked on many other cars that do not run across a shop on a everyday basis.

I am not saying its the hardest test in the world to take, but at the same time, Not many people who attempt it pass it. I am studying for the Master test like stated above.

I am not trying to start a pissing contest, but I do value my work and feel good about completed jobs. I have a vast knowledge of what I do and enjoy working a job that makes you constantly think. How many people can honestly say they have put a remote start on the simplest of vehicles such as a civic. What abouta Maybach (sp?) or a new vette? If those are your jobs, then job well done it looks good. but as you already know, there is always someone out there who can do it better than you.

Visit your local Best Buy now, jensen isnt even offered and I think you will be amazed to see the high line Alpine series being offered in there now. Pioneer is soon to follow from my understanding.

Like I said I am not trying to step on toes, Any one can install car stereo/security/convenience but how many can install it correctly?

Why post then? [&:]

In my opinion, certification on the basic levels is mostly meaningless... Hell, I took the practice MECP test just to see what it was like, and was surprised when I got something around a 90% score (Only because I know nothing about VSS...). BUT they do give the customer more confidence that they're dealing with somebody who at least has some kind of education, and if you have real knowledge, sometimes it's the only way to prove it...

Ahitzz clearly enjoys his work, and the company he works for (You have to realize that you're very lucky...). Not a lot of people can claim that.

Disturbed,
Actually, the new so called "HD" amplifier line is looking pretty interesting. Lot of power in a *very* tiny package.
