08 GT Navigation w/Phone problem
Hello -
I have a 2008 GT/CS. I bought it with factory navigation. There is a phone button on it that does not seem to work and seems to need to be turned on. The only accessories listed are the Mobile Ease hands free kit. Nothing seems to describe turning on the navigation hands free option. Hooking up Mobile Ease does not turn on the phone button on the navigation unit.
Does anyone have any experience with this? How do you turn it on? What accessories do you need to make it work?
I have tried the Mobile Ease accessory and could not get that working either (voice and speakers are not working during call only...otherwise it works in the menus). My dealer (parts and service) have no idea. It is increasingly frustrating me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim

sounds like a hands free blue tooth kit. If you have got a phone with in the last few years there is a good chance that your phone will support it, and you will love it more then power windows once they are sync'd.... I have not had my hands on an 08 and I don't think there are many people on here that have, they are all still waiting for the factory radio to die(we will see them in '09). You will need to turn blue tooth on, on your phone and put it in discoverable mode, enter a code, ect. If it is not covered in your cars manual, I would take a quick swing by your dealer or I beleive there is a official ford tech site that will help, but this is honestly best done in live time.
Thanks for the post.
Update: Phone button on 2008 navigation is a precursor to SYNC availability in late '08 or '09 Mustang models. Therefor, it is useless to me.
After another hour with the dealer today (that makes 4 not counting install), they are going to try a new control module for the Mobile Ease. We shall see.
Again, if there is anyone out there with some experience in the 2008 Navigation system in the Stang, let me know.
Thanks!

ford head units have always been the weak chain in the link which is unfortunate since it needs to be the strongest.....
That sync stuff being so new still scares me. I am going to wait a generation or two so they/you can work out the bugs. Sorry, I know its not what you want to hear but.......

Got the new module......Mobile Ease is now functional. Seems to work OK. At least I can answer calls without taking my hands from the wheel. Safety first!
I agree with the SYNC comment. It needs to be proven out and the bugs need to be worked out. Hopefully they get it right because it is a cool idea!

mixing microsoft and cars scares me to know that in a few years to turn the engine off I will have to touch both bumpers and the antenna, and then select ok when it asks me to confirm that I want to turn it off.
You will get spoiled by that piece and learn to love it as much as power windows.
