I dont have any experience with EFX subs but in my last car i had a EFXHD5001 1200 watt max amp and never had any problem out of it. The hi's an lo's were pretty good and the bass was amazing. I had it hooked up to 2 12' MTX MXS1204, my eardrums would hurt everytime i got in the car.
Thier amp puts out 1500 watts max and 100x2 at 4 ohms rms with a ton of distortion.

Thier sub is bound to perform to the same terrible standards.

It is more then likely aroudn the quality of a visonik I picked up in a box with an amp new for $20... They are great for plugging into the wall and thats about it.
I had an EFXHD5001 mono block 1200 watt apm with 800w x 1 rms @ 2 ohms, I never ran into any problems with distortion. Even the place i installed it at was amazed at the sound quality that it put out.

just looking up that amp i saw it listed at 500watts at 4w and 800 watts at 2w. never have i ever seen ohms represented by a "w". that might say something about the amp... or maybe it was just the store...

anything can sound alright at low levels. try to get it to drive something powerful and make it hit hard and see if its clean. id put money on it that it will crap out above getting the gain 1/2 way up.

^^^ I'm pretty sure it was the store.

My amp powered 2 12' MTX MXS1204 with the gain 1/2 way upnever had any problems with distortion.Never craped out and only had one time where the amp overheated. I am not saying that it is the best amp out on the market because i know its not. Simply stated that i never had any problems out of my amp.

I'd lump EFX into the "Sony Xplode" catagory. Probably works fine but not meant forintense audio. If the OP is wanting something inexpensive but maybe not as reliable as RF, Kicker, or Alpine it'll probably be a decent setup.

Scosche does fall into that catergory of those manufacturers.

I have owned a Sony Xplode amp and there is adifference between the two. EFX's price range is farely close to RF, Kicker, or Alpine, it is just not a well known brand.

Didnt purchase mine at a grocery story. You guys could bash Scosche/efx all you want im just stating my opinion. I purchased mine at a big audio store here in MD. Paid $400 for the amp and that wasback in 2004 kind of pricey but didnt see it anywhere else for cheaper. I could care less about it now i have Kicker all throughout my car.

When you plan on upgrading your audio tastes from the baby section of the candy store?

OhI betthey do...

They're one of the oldest accessory suppliers in the industry, right behind Metra. Been around for almost 30 years.
