Default need sub and amp advice (2002 vert)

hey guys today i finally got my deck

ALPINE 9886

i thought it looked simple to use and the price was decent (300 bucks)

anyway im really wanting to get atleast 1 sub and an amp for my next paycheque, but i honestly know nothing about what to look for

i listen to alot of music with alot of BASS but i dont want it to drown out the lyrics i want BANGIN bass, but at the same time i want crisp lyrics.

i was at the local audio shop (VISIONS) and the sales dude told me to get this 700 dollar amp, i thought that was a little much, but i dont know.

so what i need to know is...

what should i look into getting? should i get 2 10" subs? im kinda interested in getting some JL audio subs.

and what amp should i get to make the most out of my subs?

hopefully im looking to spend no more that 800 dollars, the only shops that are around me are

www.Futureshop.ca
www.visions.ca
www.andresaudiotronic.com

so if you could browse those sites and let me know the best bang for the buck i could get

i just want respect when it comes to my cars sound, i have the nicest car out of all my friends but the worst sound system haha

I enjoy a nice stereo too since my drive to and from work is long. For my last car I bought a 12in kicker comp and it wasnt that great. I would go with two tens with a 600 watt amp either kicker or rockford fosgate. I would get a Kicker comp CVT (or whatever the highest model is) depending on the RMS usually around 300watts i think. You dont want to get too big of an amp but you want it to be a little higher wattage then what your system can handle so its not struggling. And if you need new speakers I would go with the 150-180watt Iinfinities. oh dont forget to make it a dual channel amp if you get two subs. or four channel if you want to put your speakers on it too. I wouldnt spend $700 on an amp (unless I had the Money) just remember you get what you pay for I would not skimp on anything.

Just my $.02 but I've always had good luck with Alpine amps and JL Audio subs & enclosures. Right now in my Stang I'm running an Alpine M1000 amp, pushing 2 JL 10w3v2 subs in a sealed PowerWedge box ... plenty of oomph!

brandon he does not need a 2 channel amp to run 2 subs. Do some reading first. A mono will do the trick and a 2 channelto run front stage. Its true you get what you pay for but not always sometimes u pay for names. I would do alot of searching before i buy cause from what ive seen jl/alpine/rf are nothing to just throw money at since ull be wanting better in about 3 weeks. Just cause pimp ur ride or ur local shop dosent carry a certain brand does not mean that brand is unworthy (most likely the reason they dont have the (quality) brands is because they did not qualify to carry them) or its just easier to peddle out $$$ mainstream junk to the lil i know it all audio kids with there moms cc.(not saying u are one).

so 800$??? does it have to be from those sites?? Cause they all carry the same junk. 800$ will get u something nice what are you looking for sq/sql/spl sq= sound quality sql= sound quality loud spl= sound pressure loud?? Sq is not my thing so im limited on my advice about that i know a few pure sq subs but ill stick with what i know sql and spl but there are many sq peeps on this board that would have better advicethen me about what sq setup to get. But if your open to opp and are willing to go non mainstream then i could give u many ideas on what to go with that would put shame to those brands listed above. But its all comes down to you are you willing to take a chance or follow the crowd?

yea man, my alpine head with the alpine amp and 2 10" infinity kappas kick real nice. custom made box helps to. if you find a good deal, I think you can do it for all under $800. JLs are expensive.

I didnt say you "needed" one all I said is that it would be a good idea, and it was just my 2 cents those are the brands I like and I use. The whole point I was trying to get across was to buy something that has quality sound. and just because stuff is mainstream doesnt mean its bad, theres a reason its mainstream.
