Sub box in a convertible
I have an '02 GT convertible with the Mach 460 audio system. The sound isn't bad for a factory system, but as a lot of you apparently agree on it needs more bass (like any system ever has enough! lol) My plan for now is to add a sub box into the trunk with probably a couple 10" subs, and tie an additional amp into the existing system harness. I found this link in this forum which is a great help for the wiring part.
My biggest unknown is with the sub box itself. I've built several boxes for myself as well as other friends cars. I'm good at constructing rigid boxes of proper airspace & porting. But, I've never built a box for a convertible car before, and would like some advice on this. I've read here that a bandpass design is good, and also for a traditional box it's good to stick the subs facing rearward. Is this placement as good for a convertible as a hardtop?
What I'd really like to see is if someone could post some photos of subboxes in a convertible, and how to set this up most effectively. Is it good to remove the panel between the trunk and the top? Would you know of any place that might have a sub box design template that I could use to cut up the pieces for the box?
Thanks in advance guys!

So, nobody has any advice?
Another related question with that wiring schematic.. It says to splice a line out converter into the factory wiring data cable is that correct? Isn't the data cable signal already a low-level signal? (not speaker level)

I have the 05 vert...
I was worried about the subs in the trunk losing a lot of sound, so I am in the process of replacing my back seat. Since the seat is just barely big enough for my little sister to sit in it (all 75 lbs of her), I don't really need it...
I've build the subframe that completely replaces the back seat, and am now working on building the enclosures for the woofers. I plan to fiberglass everything, and hopefully have it fit snug into the rear seat of the car.
I was going to go with 2 12"s but after thought and consideration, I think I'm going to go with a 12 and a 10 (or something similar) on one side, and a laptop stand on the other so I can hook up one of those performance monitoring systems (wanna be dyno) and use it to write/load tunes for my XCalibrator.

yea I know I needs to take some pics...
On every day I get home that it's nice out, I'm like... well I should take some pictures... or I could go drive around...
for some reason, it always ends up dark out before I get the camera
I'll try to take some tonight...

Thanks for the info guys. Am looking forward to seeing the pictures too!
well for mine i had a 900 wat rockford amp and two 700 watt subs and it wasnt overly loud in the conv. but my freidn got the same setup in his coupe it and it pounded the sh*t out of it.
Yeah I know that. So that means I have to really OVERDOSE the bass output to compensate,, right?

hey GreyStang! I am interested in that too. Keep me up to date. What kind of head unit do you have? because I am thinking about replacing my stock head unit.
