Yo fastsilverstang. Before trading in my last ride ('93 Jeep Renegade) I yanked out all my aftermarket sterio gear & was planning to re-use at least some of that stuff into whatever my new car was gonna be. I had a JVC KD-G800 deck in the Jeep and it worked great! It plays MP3's and WMA's and the motorized detachable face supports CD text as well. Basically it was the cheapest MP3/WMA/text deck I could find that was still made by a brand I've heard of lol (not one of the cheapo fleamarket brands)

I was going to keep the stock 6-CD Mustang head unit in for now, but from reading the specs of the wiring harness interface (read this) it would appear my JVC deck would be a natural fit replacement for the factory deck. It's got all the required high & low power feeds.

For now I just want more BASS! One step at a time...

Yo josehs, => read this <= for info on how to wire in the subs to the factory sterio. As for the subs, your gonna have to build a custom box, or buy a prebuilt one & stick it in the trunk or back seat.

Good luck to you man. Mustang alone are usually tough to fit subs in let alone the verts. Let us know how you come out.
Josehs99, it would be extremly difficult to fit 2 12"'s into a vert, what MTX model are they? Also you are defiantly looking at building the box inside the trunk. P.S. Coupes Rule!

I have a 02 Vert and was able to get a standard 10 inch box to fit very well. I would not recommend going any bigger as the fit is very tight. Bought a pair of 10 in Kenwoods with an Alpine mono amp. Inside the car it sounds really good but I am in despeate need of dynamat to cut back on the rattling. With the top up these things sound awesome.

I will get you some measurements of my box Greystang. I have a custom box that fits PERFECTLY in the vert trunk (i have an '03 if you didn't notice) Also, for wiring schematics, you can check out my writeup (i couldn't get your link to work). Back to my box though. the box fills in very nicely that back area of the trunk and youcanremove the plastic wall in the back. Iwill have two 11Ov.2's in it, so the depth isshallow. Off the top of my head, the dimensions are

11" High in the front
4" High in the rear
33" wide
9" deep on the bottom
5" deep on the top from the front of the box.
This gave me almost perfectly 1 cu ft. (if i am right on my dimensions)The box is basicallyrectangular with the long back top corner cut off. And if you haven't realized my box is sealed. I spoke with eD about it and they told me that with a convertible it is tough to produceenough sound since there is no SPL in a Vert (duh there is no top!) So they said to eDead the hell out of trunk, and i am going to remove the panel that walls off the top from the trunk. Let me know if you have any questions. Also, here is the link

My 2002 Vert.

Here's what I did;

Ikept the stock Mach system and head unit.Then built a .88 cubic foot box that held a 12" sub inverted and on a slight angle. Some angle, but using acircular saw and taking you time, its easy. Filled the box with fiber and covered is with faux leather. Then make a trunk lid cover and mounted the amp to the lid. My wife did a great job on the leather. The sub came from the local flea market and the sub off Ebay. Total cost was less that $300 and will still set of car alarms at the mall.

My vote goes for 1 Kicker L7 in a 1-1.5 cu ft box... and run a 1000-1500 rms amp with a low thd. and you will solver your problem and not loose much space
