I went down to a local shop to see how much the install would be for the components and the nine.2x and they basically told me ed was crap and that I was better off buying alpine, kenwood, or mb quarts. This was just them trying to take my money right? On average how much should the install for the components and the amp run?
If they told you that alpine, kenwood and mb quart were superior to DLS comps and ED amps they are $100 trying to sell you something.

Alpine makes good HU's and their PDX amps are pretty nice.

Kenwood is 100% garbage.

MB Quart used to be nice and still has some decent equipment, but I beleive they are owned by maxxsonics know so the quality is not what it used to be and say goodbye to German engineering.

I thought they were just trying to sale me something. They wouldn't even quote me for the install. They only had quotes for items they sold. How much would an install of the comps and amp generally run? I just recieved the Eclipse 6620 and need to look into installing that as well.

Install price really depends on the shop.

Have you considered DIY?

I might have to look into doing it myself. I'm getting the head unit installed for $50 next week by someone who installs the headunits for mercedes when they come into the port. He does the audio work for the bodyshop I go.

I am pretty sure that mercedes come to the port with the radio already installed in them, pretty sure...... I would be hesitant to have a body shop guy install a deck man. I know they both work on cars but I can promise you that with my 15 yrs of install experience you would NOT want me to do body work on your car........ $50 is almost a shops install price that would come with a warranty that would be good when he is not in port...........

PReal, you are right about MBQuart...i used to compete in SPL and dB competions with my F-150...i had 2 sets of MBQuart 6.5" components run by a fultron amp and it had as much sound quality as the guy with focals all around. he paid $800/set and i paid right under $250/set...now, since MBQuart got bought out, their quality has really hit the downward spiral and i'm not sure if i'd even be comfortable putting them up against a set of X-plodemids/highs...

+1...you dont even have to cut and splice wires to the factory harness anymore unless you want to save a few bucks...go to best buy and get a factory harness to mount in between the aftermarket harness and the HU...just plug and play...
