That is becuase he wants to sell you something. It takes double amp power to get a 3db increase which is also double power.

That alpine is only rated at 2 ohms, but comparing the spec of the two amps at a 2 ohm total load, the alpine amp will be 66% louder. (1000 watts versus 600 watts at 2 ohms)

I think $300 is way to high for an amp that makes that kind of power.

The PDX amps are nice becuae of thier size, but overall alpine makes a mediocreamp.

What subs do you have and what type of enclosure are they in.

I need to know the voice coil config, power handling, and how many. Also, space requirements would be nice.

well i have a vert so its no more room than what i have. i have 2 12' diamond d3 dual 2ohm subs. i also have a 5(not .5) farad capacitor. i have a aftermarket powerful battery idk what its called. i have changed the big 3 cables also. im running 4guage wire. the boxes are 1.25cubes eah and are ported.. the subshave 2.5†dual voice coils and they hold 400watts rms and peak 800watts each.. none of my stuff has ever been tuned or anything but it will be next week. and i have a Jensen in dash dvd cd player. other than that im not real sure

The first thing I would do is ditch the CAP. If you think they help then read the sticky in the information section. CAPs put MORE of a load on your electrical system.

For a total of around800 watts at2 ohm I would look at the following. The amp you buy determineshow you set it up.

http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductC...;idproduct=384$179 (Not quite the rated power but a good amp)

http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductC...;idproduct=380$199 (Also a nice amp, but with not quite the rated power)

http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/6627$250

http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...products_id=44$295

A little higher end...
