Default radar detector advice

well i wont go to far into the story but i was racing another stang on a backroad the other day when a cop came towards us and we ended up running and i know i got away but i dont know the other guy so i have no idea if he was as lucky as me... it was odd to see one seeing as my town doesnt even have a department.

but it kinda worried me so whats a good detector in the range of about 200-250 bucks?

k-40 or V1 are supposed to be the top perfomers. I have a remote system by whistler that looks great and does an ok job but is not the best.

K-40, V1 for sure, V1 won't fit in your price range though, unless you scoop one up a used on the bay.
K40 RD-850's are new around $250, you can find NIB ones on eBay for $100 though give or take, it's just that you will only see a few a week on there so...

Dont want to stir anything up here guys but you might find this info educational. I am a cop. First thing is you can spend all the money in the world on radar detectors but the fact is most cops as far as myself and most all I work with and state troopers we all keep our radars off until we see a car that is visibily speeding or keep it off around a corner or over a hill and as soon as the roof of your car appears and u cant even see us we turn it on and a milla second we have your speed. And we will pick up the speed before your detecor will pick up our doppler radar waves. And if you get hit with a laser then you are really done as they hit the front plate of each car directly and run for eternity. We have remote controls to our radars so I drive around holding my remote and at night its even easier cuz ill turn it on you and have you in the same second...theres no escape....the only time it can be beneficial is when someone is leaving thier radar on just to let you know they are there or they are a rookie cop leaving the waves running. Also keep this in mind our cars speedometers are calibrated and we can certify speeds by pacing you at the same speed and I cant tell you how many times of ive got racers from pacing cuz i keep my radar waves off and u think im joe blow behind you on the street. Ive seen many surprised faces..lol. Also if we see two cars visibly racing we dont have to check the speed we can arrest them for carless and imprudent driving.....And one last note...and brother I have raced when i was a teenager as well but im telling as a survived adult I have literally picked up a kids brains off the grass and roadway from a race and he killed his buddy too. He was also wearing his seatbelt....P.S. its not smart to run if your caught your caught...take it like a man..otherwise next time you might not get away so easy and instead of a ticket you will get spike stripped, given the business, and then thrown in jail to get the business from others. Good Luck.

Crown Vic's are slow. So even if you can clock me, you still can't catch me

And you can't clock any car with a jammer, such as the Calibre system. And you can't pace me when im going the other way. And if you pull me over I will ask to see the radar, if the jammer was on, you have no number.

And I have an excellent lawyer.

But most importantly, you can't catch me.

seight that was too good. thanks for the laugh

but on topic, a nice beltronics works fine. I run a Bel Vector 940 and it does what i need it to do, since i don't race or speed like crazy. Plus a lot of police leave the guns on by me so everything is good there. and believe me, if your pacing me, i'll know it before you. Police is in my blood since on my mom's side is 4 generations of police officers. Also, refrain from using the term "cops". they are officers and deserve better. save "cops" for those who switch on the code 3 and the wailer to get through stoplights and traffic.
