Default Scared i Screwed my amp

umm so i've been pounding the last week or so with no problems, i mean i had been playing heavy bass songs and i've had not one single problem, till about a day or two ago, i noticed the amp cutting off, then i turn the volume down and the subs and amp come back on. could it be that the amp was getting to hot and going into thermal protection mode? do i have the gains set up improperly?
THE AMP IS JL AUDIO 500/1 pushing two jl audio 10W0's not wired parallel
any help is appreciated as i was going to purchase two 12 inchers today if all is possible......

Check your subs ohm load,bc if one of the subs is blown or on the way to being blown the ohm load may be very low and making the amp go out. most mono block amps can only handle 2 ohms at the must anything less it will make the amp cut out then back in.

Get a muiltimeter and check the ohm load on each sub.

what happens to the lights on the amps. Do they stay on or off? it probably is just going into thermal protect.

Did the entire car not want to shut off or just the sound system.

Don't use the cap, it will only add more problems.

could be low voltage from your alt. take a look at the voltage gauge and see what it looks like.

check the fuse in the wiring for your subs

follow the wiring from your subs till you find where it is and make sure its tight and if it persists try a new fuse

haha funny that this came back up, i found out something new, the amp has a switch for high voltage or low voltage and when i have it on high voltage it hits a little not near as much as it does when its on switched on low voltage
but in high voltage the amp doesnt shut down, which in some songs the amp quits when i crank the volume to 45 i've checked that fuse already and it looked fine to me
