Default No sound with stereo install

I'm installing a pioneer stereo into my 2000 v6 with premium sound following the directions on Install Doctor. I bought a wiring harness from metra (the 80-5511) and am using the factory amplifier integration method. I just finished splicing and attaching all the wires and put everything into the car... but I'm getting no sound. The unit powers up and I am able to detect radio stations but again no sound.

Wires from the metra harness that are not connected: Amp turn on, Dimmer, Power Antenna
Wires from the pioneer's harness that are not connected: Mute, System control
Stereo's ground is attached to the large black ground wire that was attached to the factory stereo.

Any ideas of what I am doing wrong?

For the system control wire in the pioneer harness install directions says: "connect to system control terminal of the power amp or the auto antenna relay control terminal"

Should I connect this wire to the metra harness' wire for amp on?

the install dr should tell you to connect the remote turn on from the deck to the amp turn on in the hrns.(blue/white to blue)

your amps will probably turn on with a loud thump. The sticky on the top of the audio forum tells how to fix this.
