Default Engine "whine" audible through speakers

Just recently I've noticed that I can hear the engine "whine" through the speakers. The pitch gets higher and louder thru the rev range. Anyone know what would cause this and how to fix it?? It's wicked annoying and seems to be getting worse.. thanks

You need a ground loop isolator. They are pretty cheap and Circuit City/Best Buy carry them in their car audio departments. I'm not exactly sure, but I think it is caused by the turning of the flywheel somehow. Someone else correct me if I am wrong though. I had this problem pretty bad on my car. I installed a ground loop isolator and the problem disappeared. Good luck!

Where is your head unit grounded? If you pull the RCA's out of the amplifier, do you still have noise?

ground loop isolators are a band aid over a wound that will never heal.

Before we could give any help we need to know what is in the car

+1

Yeah Dude Ground loop is a last resort... Have you recently done anything to the sound system or add any new Mods or anything? There are a bunch of ways to pick up that noise so you kinda wanna retrace your steps if you added anything recently. If you haven't added anything recently and the noise just came outta the blue then there are different things u want to inspect..

Guess you fixed the problem. Seen we are not getting any help with what you have in the car.

Aftermarket or factory?

in the industry we call this an audible tachometer. No reason to ever miss a shift, even if your favorite song is on!
