Mono Amp Q
Quick question that I think I know the answer to, but want to make sure. Lets say you have a mono amp rated at 600 rms watts @ 4 ohms, and you wire in two dual voice 4 ohm subs to that one amp, does each sub get 300 rms watts, or does it still get 600 rms watts? In other words is the power divided by two because you're running two subs, or do both subs still get the full 600 rms watts?
Actually it depends on how you have the VC of the subs wired.
In series parallel combination, 4 ohm final load, you have 300 watts per sub.
In straight parallel, 1 ohm final load, you could have 600 watts per sub. If your amp is not ddesigned for a 1 ohm load you will fry the amp...

Depends on the amp too, the alpine pdx and jl splash amps at 4 ohm or 2 ohm they run the same power. Example 600w at 4 and 600w at 2. This is nice but these amps get pricey.
But must amps dont do this so at 4ohms you get 300w and 2ohms you get 600w. If your subs are dual 4 ohm voice coil, I would get rid of the mono amp and go with a 2 channel soo you use all the power the amp will put out instead of only half the power. Or just use one sub on the mono amp so you use all the power.

Class D amps are much more effecient then class A/B amps so if the mono amp is class D you should keep it!!!
Amps don't care if they use all or half of thier power. The only time an amp cares how much power it is making is when you drop your resistave load, the amp increases power, and the amp has the inability to dissipate the additional heat produced by making the additional power.
