Default engine noise through speakers and sub

A while back I noticed my audible tach as ttocs put it coming through my subs. It only does it every once in a while but its really annoying and really loud when it does do it. Yesterday I decided to wire all of my speakers through my amp as well and they all do it except its more high pitched, does it all the time and is even more annoying. haha. Anyway, I've got a Pioneer head unit and Kicker 10" subs and a Kicker amp. My RCA cables aren't near any power wires or anything and I've tried grounding one and it did nothing. Anyone got any ideas?

EDIT: If I touch a wire to the outside of the RCA cable where it connects to the head unit, connecting it to the head unit, it stops. I have a feeling its something with my head unit.

i would check the grounds on the amp and the radio. you may need to ground somewhere else. then if its not the grounds then i try changing the rca cable.

it sounds like a bad ground. Try grounding the radio a little better first and if that does not do anything then try replacing the rca cables. You can try a temp set above the carpet to see if it helps.

You will not need a shift light if you leave it the way it is now.
