Default Cd6 on mach 460 system problem

I have an 01 GT with the mach 460, and the Cd6 changer head unit is completely locked up with 5 disks still in it. I've had the typical problems we've pretty much all encountered from time to time. However this time I think this unit has played its last cd. I ejected the number 6 cd and now it won't do a thing on the cd side except display "cd error". The flip up door that opens to change cds is stuck open and I've tried everything I've known or read to do. Is there anything I can try except sending it off through Ford or some electronic company to fix? If not is it possible to install a late model cd6 changer instead with maybe some plug-in adapters for the back to make them interchange or anything? Any assistance would be great, thanx!
P.S. Their may be some other threads on here pertaining to this issue but I haven't been able to find quite yet though I've been searching for a long time lol

the indash changers have never been anything but an early loss of 5 of your cd's. I thought some time ago that someone on here posted pics of how to take them apart and get your cd's out but I would never spend any time installing a new one, have you not learned anything yet?

Integrating a deck into the mach system is not hard and worth the upgrade.

Yeah upgrade to an aftermarket deck and get an Ipod. Not worth the time of buying a new factory deck and then having this do it again.

If you do a search you will find hundreds of post talking about the same thing, just go aftermarket.

I've got a wire harness to install an aftermarket cd player on the way thats supposed to work with the mach systems. Anyone have any suggestions on some cd players I should check into? Guess I'll end up going with a single disk player, I like the fact that alot are Ipod ready now since I've got one full of songs lol. I was debating on getting a touch screen that would come closer to filling up the hole the factory head unit came out of since the last mustang I had with the average size head unit it left a slot underneath the cd player you could see through and it didnt look so great, on account of the wires you could see and just looked somewhat tacky. But I may go that route again??
