ok so im running my subs and speakers off of external amps. i have a jl 500/1 amp running the subs and a little crappy visonik amp running my two front speakers. everything was running well and then one day the amps started cutting out. then one time i turned the car on and the amps didnt come on at all. they would come on for about five starts of the car and then not come on for about five starts and now they just stopped coming on. i have checked all the fuses time and again and they're good. i have checked all of my wiring and it is in good shape. im just wondering why they wont turn on. am i not getting enough power to them? my battery is in good shape still and i have no problem starting the car and the headunit works fine. whats the problem? thanks in advance for the help

take a volt meter to the amps power terminals.

 

if there is power on the turn on lead and 12v supply. check to make sure the greound hasnt vibrated loose.

 

alright i figured it out...my battery had a small crack around the positive terminal and was leaking battery acid and therefore not charging. the batter was simply not holding the power in order to run the stereo system. thanks for the help guys

 

That happend to me also. You fried one of your speakers.
