Help with broken head unit (2002 Mach 1000)
Hey guys, this is my first post here, but if you think I'm leeching, don't worry - I'm going to start contributing to what looks like an awesome community that I should have joined ages ago.
I've got a 2002 Mustang GT that I bought second hand from a private owner back in January, with a Mach 1000 audio system, and it seems like the audio head unit is broken. From what I can tell (and believe me, I'm no expert), the system thinks that CD 3 has been ejected, but in fact all six CDs are still in the machine. The slot stays open, and whenever I try to play music or eject a CD, it tries to perform the function and then fails.
This isn't the first time the head unit's failed. In the past, tapping the unit or sticking something into the slot (advice I found while lurking on these forums) has worked perfectly, but this time nothing I do seems to fix it.
I'm not against replacing the unit - in fact, I just got an iPhone, and I would love a way to play that over my Mach 1000 system, but I'm not sure how. What can you recommend?
As an additional note, I still have the six CDs in the unit, and I'd like to save them if possible.
Thanks in advance!

Your not the first to have 6 of the favorite cds lost bc of the 6 disc changer failed. Replace the headunit! All you need to intergate the factory mach system is the metra 70-5521 wire harness. Then you can listen to your music on your ipod throught the radio besides the crappy fm transmitters.
Getting your cds back you can try to ripe the radio apart and you may save a couple of the cds without scatching them to badly.
