Ya, Pioneer and Alpine are going to be the two best decks out there. I personally prefer Pioneer because they're not as flashy as the Alpines. Also if you're planning on using an Ipod get a deck with a USB connection so that you can charge your Ipod while it sits in your glove compartment and you can control it through the deck as well. Get it installed at Best Buy too! It might cost a little extra but they offer a lifetime warranty on the wiring.

Your new here huh? I would never give a blanket statement like this about going to any one shop but especially that one(sorry 03redgt) after leaving their install bay long ago. Anyplace can have a bad installer at a good shop so I would advise you to check out your installer first. See if he cares about your wants/needs. Ask how they make their connections, see what thier reputation around town is and then pick your shop to install it.

 

Alot of these "good shops" mom and pop shops are closing down. The car audio market isnt really that big anymore and these smaller shops have to close down bc they cant compete with ciruit city, best buy, frys, etc. So your quote good installers come to these big chain stores.

"Check out your Installer" you want him to go out on a date with him or something. No one with getting just a basic deck is goin to go throught the trouble of checking out there installer.I know you have your difference with best buy, just bc you hate them doesnt mean you have to make everyone hate them. It just seems like more people visit best buy then the other shops that is why we see more people on here talking bout them. Bad or Good.

ok, i've personally dealt with Best Buy's "install shop" a few years ago and it was terrible. 2 different connections came loose and touched each other and fried the deck....now granted they replaced the deck, but i installed it the second myself after consulting the internet, it still shouldn't have happened in the first place and i will never go back. and i personally know of 6 people who've had problems with Best Buy's "install". and yes a person should get to know the people who's working on his or her's car. i'm sure as hell not gunna leave any car of mine with someone who sits their beer on the hood of my car, sits on the hood, smokes in it or around it, etc. i expect it to be taken EXTREMELY good care of, even if "it's just a deck". it still cost me money and i wanna make sure the person working on it has more than just a fu**in clue as to what they're doin, they better KNOW.

 

do you think you can't set a car on fire with a bad deck install? I will be happy to say that I was fired from bby and I still have the paperwork from the state to show that it was for unjust cause. I will save you the details but in general I hate the way that place treated its customers and really hated the way it treated its employees. IT is only a matter of time before you guys join me on either the disgruntled employee or disgruntled customer side of bestbuysux.org

He made a blanket statement about BBY that I wanted to correct. I know how bby will hire anybody and stick them where they don't belong, they almost put me in computers(big mistake)! So to say that because they warrenty their installations makes them better then any other person makes me want to dig up all the old posts where I have had to correct a bby install. I don't get requests to try and find out what the installer from CC, fry's or any other install place did wrong. ITS JUST BBY.... I know that they do alot more numbers then other places but that is no excuse as to why they can't figure out a stangs system with as many as get pumped out. I don't know why I am the one that has to change when they are the one still pissin people off including me?

The most recent way I was pissed on by bby is by finding out that they never sent me my last check from over 10 yrs ago. I did a random search on one of those unclaimed money sites and discovered that they have owed me almost $700 from my last check. Its funny that it never made it to the address they had on file as my parents still live there today. I got the check today, only 12 yrs late..........

meh... the best buy i go to is great. the installers know what they're doing. maybe the ppl running the stores in your area are morons and hire anyone off the street. anyways... Pioneer or Alpine. lol=P

 

I am not saying they are all bad. I said get to know your shop and see if they know what they should.......

There are more then a few good and even a couple of great installers there. GTredfire knows his stuff, just wish that more bby installers did..
