Amp cutting off
I don't know what's going on here but I'm having a bit of a problem with the amp cutting off during music play. I haven't had this problem when I had this system in my Camry. What could cause this problem? Is it a poor ground or something? I did take the cheap way out in grounding it, but I didn't want to drill or screw any holes in the body. Now I might just go ahead and do it, so the only difference is I used a Stinger 0 gauge amp kit in the Camry. I used a JL 2 gauge amp kit on the Mustang. The gains are still the same since took the subs out the Camry so I haven't adjusted them yet... I grounded it by the solenoid switch on the driver side. I'm thinking about getting some battery terminals too, and take the Yellow Top out the Camry and put it in the Mustang. Any suggestions would be nice. I did have some problems coming out the positive battery post it kept sliding off while I was driving. I tighten it as hard as I can anymore and I'm going to end up striping the screw the holds the battery terminal
Does the amp go into "protect mode" or just loses power and turns off? Does it play fine for like 10 minutes or so and then cut off?
Did you change how the subs are wired to the amp or inside the box?
Check your subs with a multi meter and see what the ohm reading for each sub. A sub could be blown and is throwing the amp into protect mode.

everything is wired down in 1 ohm guess I'ma have to draw it out... I have... wait a minute I mentioned this in another thread already about what I was running, but I have (2) Cerwin Vega V-Max 12.2 subs and Cerwin Vega EXL Series 1200D
Well the amp says it 1 ohm stable, so lets see. So is the amp losing power and turning off or going into protect mode(should be a protect light on the amp by the power light) when it cuts off?
I found the subs online, are they dual 2 ohm vioce coil? BC if so then you can have them wired 3 ways. One of the 3ways the amp sees the subs at .5 ohm(not good for that amp), the other way the amp see the subs at 2 ohms or the last way the amp see the subs at 8 ohms.
Yeah let us know how you wired them? Have you changed it since you pulled it out of your old car?

here's how its wired, but I'm going to double check it again to make sure.

no I haven't changed them since I took it out of the Cam, but yeah you're right they did come at .5 ohm. It didn't lose power it just went slap off I'd have to check and see if the Protect mode came up I can't see one side of the amp so everytime I get out the car and look it comes back on.

huh it never cut off before, when it was in your other car? Yeah check out when the amp kicks off again dont turn the car off just look to see if there is a protect light and if it is on.
Is the amp getting hot?
Check out each sub with a muilt meter and make sure the voice coils are reading 2 ohms.

I had the subs in the Cam for some months before I got the Mustang I put the Cerwin Vegas in the Stang and I had some Pioneer Premiers before so I put those in the Cam.
The amp was always hot but to a certain extent (not burning your hands hot, but hot enough to feel the heat wave)

So let me get this straight the cerwin amp was hooked to the pioneers then you put the cerwin subs on that amp.
If so your just pulling to much current from the amp having the subs wired at .5 ohm, that is why it is cutting off then.
If the cerwin subs have always been with the cerwin amp then you might have a blown sub, like I said get a meter and check the ohms' of each voice coil.
