is there an octagonal box with a bunch of holes under the radio(the factory amp)?

IF you are using an aftermarket hrns that is clipping into the factory hrns then first make sure that the ground wire continues from your hrns to the factory hrns. Sometimes they make the hrns for a bunch of models and what is the ground on one may not be the ground on the other. IF the wire continues into the factory hrns then it is fine to use but a clean spot on the chassis is commonly recomended.

Also be carefull if there is a wire that is black with a white stripe. That is the amplifier ground.

good man, you found the bypass hrns! You will be fine with the ground on the hrns.
