Question New System Opinions Please

Planning to install in April. Let me know what you think of the components I have chosen.

Kenwood eXcelon DNX8120

Alpine PDX-5, powering:
Boston Acoustics SL80 fronts
Boston Acoustics SX85 rears
2 x Pioneer Premier TS-SW841D Doors

Alpine PDX-1.1000, powering:
2 x Boston Acoustics G512-4 12"

I prefer not to heavily modify the door sub enclosures but I am open to alternatives. From what I can tell the premier shallow subs seem to install with the least amount of modifications. I plan to Dynamat the doors and trunk. I also want to limit head light dim issues, but it's my experience that caps have done little to fix the problem. Would a Stinger battery or the like be a better option than a cap, or both? I don't think these amps will draw as much juice as previous amps I have had though.

Any suggestions of where to buy cables, and the needed Can bus adapter for the head unit install? I was leaning towards this 2 amp install kit ~$240 shipped

Any suggestions are appreciated!

as far as the cap and the lights dimming. upgrade your big three, use good wires, and make sure you have a good battery up front. a cap helps with storing juice for those low bass notes.

I cant really comment on all the componants you've chosen except for the premier subs, which imo, are good. You basically are going to have the same type of set up as mine at the moment except I have 2 10's in the rear and 3 amps total (1 just for the door subs).

You might be underpowering your accoustic front and rear speakers as mine, which are not the same brand, are getting 125w rms each and dont distort at max volume (yours will get 75w?).

I think you will really like the sound but must pay attention to dynamating the trunk real good.

I was drawing over 1000w RMS with 2 1.5 farad caps, I got ZERO dimming without upgrading the big three.

Since I upgraded the big three, I noticed a louder sound and heavier bass.

Hope this helps,

Peace.

I feel it's a start at least, down the road I can always upgrade if necessary.

If one PDX 5 doesn't do it, I will throw another one in

I will upgrade the big 3, add a couple caps or one if I can find one big enough. If that doesn't do it, would you with battery or alternator?

Has anyone used/heard these Boston sub woofers? I have never had Boston speakers but am anxious to hear them.

Any other comments are appreciated.

I had boston accoustic pro 60 components and they were a good quality speaker..

Also, I wouldn't bother wasting money on a capacitor..there are some threads here that explain their uslessness

We both have S197 mustangs, and I think the 05-06 years dont have any changes to the charging system. So yea, like I said, and ill add my lights were dimming drawing 1000w+ RMS, 2 1.5 farad caps fixed it.

Even though everything was working fine, I upgraded the Big 3 Wires and an put in an Optima Redtop months later. I havnt upgraded the alternator yet.

what is the rating on the alternator? If it has not been upgraded then you have a heck of a load with two batteries on it.
