Default Head-unit-free sound system?

I'm not a big sound guy, and am not interested in upgrading anything. But it's nice to have some music during a long drive. However, I recently had my car broken into. Second time in as many cars. I have no interest in buying a new head unit someone could take and sell for even $5 (it's the broken window that pisses me off).

Does anyone have a solution for me? I'd like to avoid simply installing another head unit and covering it up.

Thanks, guys.

do you have an alarm? did you have and were you using the detachable face?

There are ways to cover holes up but I have no idea what year yours is.

Sorry, I should update my signature.

99 Mustang GT.

No, wasn't detaching the face. Left the car sitting in the same spot for a week while I was riding the motorcycle (summer). Car has an alarm.

I'd rather not deal with having to remove and replace the face every time I get in the car.

you would rather deal with the silence of no stereo then to take the face off and stick it under your seat? to each his own I guess but if you want to cover the hole you can get a single universal din pocket and slide it into the hole the radio was in. As I said I do have an alarm, and I do thrown the face under the seat when I park it(takes 2 secs and has become part of my parking habit) and I have never had to replace anything from theft...... good luck with the silence.
