Default Fox Hatchback Subwoofer Enclosure

One of my winter projects for my 92 GT Hatchback was to come up with a custom enclosure for 2 12" subs and 2 amps (1 4 channel and 1 for the subs).

I've been searching all the mustang and car audio forums for ideas from other people but haven't been able to find anything. Everyone seems to just have a wedge box in the hatch area or it’s mounted in a notch back.

Does anyone out there have pictures of their rear hatch area that has been customized? I'd greatly appreciate it

do you want spare tire access? This is one of the largest determing factors on a good custom system in a hatch........

I'd be open to entertain either. That's kind of why I'd like to see what other people have done before I start in on the project.

We don't have many hatch backs on here, not sure why as I always loved them. They are great to put a system in and will rock like hell with a small sub. The reason most people have a small wedge box is that it allows room for the spare, and 9 times out of 10 was a pre-fab box that was easier and cheaper. If you do not need spare tire access then you open the possibility to mounting either the sub or the amps in the floor and then this opens up an entirely new relm for your hatch.

Are you planning on doing this yourself or going to a shop? True custom car audio takes some time to perfect and is worth paying someone else if you are not familiar with it. This is another reason why there are so many wedge boxes as it is a DIY project.

Not sure why either. I love mine and see tons on the road still.

I currently have a JL Audio wedge box back there with 2 10’s and just got the amp for it but wondering what the other options are. I really don’t need the spare tire or access to the area since it isn’t a daily driver and I have AAA so that area is an option. I’m more than willing to pay someone to create a nice box area back in the hatch if I couldn’t handle it but I’m really after what the options are and what they look like. I don’t really like seeing wires and an amp just sitting on the floor or attached to the woofer box. This is why I started looking around at what other people are doing or had done with their systems but so far it hasn’t turned out to prosperous. I’m thinking that I really do want to hide the amps or maybe have them show threw a plexi glass window. I’m going for a real clean look.

I don't have a fox body but you can get some ideas on the spare idea from my cardomain page. I never have added the plexi that I wanted too to make it pop but it does hide the wires. It could also be made into an enclosure for subs easily.
