Default Removal

My car has a remote start/security sytem that the previous owner had installed. I dont use the remote start as i dont drive in the winter and th security system doesnt work right so id like to remove the whole system. I dont know the brand off hand but it works remote start, security, door locks and trunk release.

i dont know anytihng really about these systems, is there anything i should now about the way they are wired in before removing or is it just follow the wires and yank them out?

the door locks use a 5-wire system so if you just cut out the door lock wiring you will not be able to use the door locks. I would let sleeping dogs lie if there is not any problem with it.

thats what i figured... is there an easy way to get it back to stock or is it just not worth the hassel.

And no theres nothing wrong with it well there is and isnt. it works but if i get two far away the alarm goes off. so its just a glorified key less entry for me. The reason i wannt take it out im gonna do some weight reduction and wire clean up, remove the ac and what not this summer

removing the starter kill could also mean it would not start. If you know your way around the wires it may not be too bad depending on how bad the install was. I bet you could spend an afternoon uncomfortable under the dash yankin wires and probably safe yourself a good 4 lbs........ And if you do it right it will work aftarwards!

I understand but yea you can probably cut more weight from the car by skipping one keg party a week and loosing 4 lbs
