Amp in the trunk - power?
I plan to have a 3.5mm audio run to the amp inputs, for mp3 players, and then run wires back to the deck area...
My question is: how can I get sufficient power to the amp? It's 40x4 sony...
Should I make a custom mount where passenger's feet are or something?
Please help!

if u are talking about using a mp3 to drive the amp directly your amp may not like it. if u are talking about about the power wire no less than good 10awg wire. 8awg would be better because 10awg limits u a lot.
would it be safe to do a test hookup and just set the amp against the carpet and see if it will work, or does the wire still need to be thicker?
The amp is only 40x4 with a 10 amp fuse so I assume it's not going to need as much as if I would have it power subwoofers....
it will play if u hook it up directly. the problem may be that the output signal may be too much. if u are set on doing it try this at your own risk. turn the amp gain all the way down then turn the mp3 up and begin turning up the gain at little at a time. if at any time it starts to sound bad stop and turn the gain back down a little.
I am not trying to be mean but I don't think you really understand what needs to happen with the amp and all the wiring that is needed to install it. I would recomend seeking the closest pro installer to help you.
first off you need to get a head unit with aux inputs and get a 3.5mm aux adapter from walmart. that way you will actually be able to control everything from the HU instead of messing with the amps gains and everything. if u dont wanna do that just get a FM modulator and hook your mp3 player to it.
